We are rolling out the proverbial guns.
Our crusher/destemmer is coming out, our bins are being unstacked, our press is being lowered from it’s winerter high-tower and we are cleaning up a storm.
This is usually done a couple of weeks earlier, but we are doing it now for 2 reasons. The first being that the weather is cold and wet and we ,our best friend’s dog and it’s Aunt Sally are all picking weeks late this year. The second is that our vineyard is called Windrow for a reason. If you take stuff out early and clean it, it will be dustier, that much earlier.
It has been predicted by many to be a cold and wet winter, which is good for skiers, but maybe not so good for an extra-early end to our harvest (paired with a late start…)
