Tchaikovsky in the Vines

Wine barrels provide a backdrop for a lovely evening of Chamber Music

Bows were flying and Torrontes was flowing recently when we were fortunate to host the Walla Walla Chamber Music Festival at the vineyard. Over 200 music and wine lovers reveled in Tchaikovky’s “Souvenir de Florence”, a beautiful and lively String Sextet. The selection was fitting – guests often liken the winery to a contemporary Italian villa – which we love.

Despite the 95+ degree heat, musicians Christina McGann (Violin 1), Philip Payton (Violin 2), Julia Salerno (Viola 1), WWCMF Founder and Artistic Director, Timothy Christie (Viola 2), Meta Weiss (Cello 1) and Norbert Lewandowski (Cello 2), played for over an hour on the crush pad, their incredible sound resonating off the wine barrels in the background. Even our old vine Cabernet planted in the musicians view seemed to perk up.

We hope you are enjoying the last gasp of summer with family, friends, music of your own, and of course, great wines.
